Recycling Decor

During this pandemic time I have been staying close to home and sewing on the Elna 580+. This is a great machine, not top of the line, but has many terrific bells and whistles:  Lock stitch, thread cutter, speed control and loads of stitches.

I never knew what to do with empty spools. My friend Kelly started keeping hers and creating a unique piece of art for decorating her home. She bought a huge, clear glass vase and started filling it with the empty spools.

To add some colour, she added some spools with thread on them.
This is my take on this. I had an oversized glass jar. These are the spools I have emptied during the pandemic. A nice addition to my sewing room.

I live in South Africa where I’m told that the special free motion / darning foot for use with quilting rulers doesn’t exist for my Elna – an Experience 620. Is this true? If so it’s very disappointing. My daughter is about to visit the USA for a month so if such a foot is available in Canada or the USA I would like to buy one and have it mailed to her in the USA. I hope that you can reply to me.
Thank you. Josephine Allais in Johannesburg, South Africa.

      Hi Josephine,

We don’t have the Elna 620 here in Canada, at least not anymore. However, your model is a 7mm and I’m pretty sure it is a low shank model. You can get a foot for your machine from a Janome dealer. Janome manufactures Elna and therefore the feet are interchangeable on most models. You could also do the same with Elna dealers in the USA. On http://www.Elna.com select United States and then the dealer locator is at the bottom of the home page. Some dealers may be prepared to ship to where your daughter will be.

We do not sell on this forum – it is an educational/ promotional forum. Feet etc have to be purchased at a dealer’s store. I think the best is to ask your daughter to look up a Janome store close to where she will be going and contact them to purchase the foot you need.
I will look up the part # on Monday and send you another message with that.

http://www.janome.com has a Find a Dealer button at the top of the homepage. Click that and search for dealers.

      Hi Josephine,

The Janome part # for the low shank ruler work foot is 202442000. I hope you manage to get hold of this foot.
