Now there is a sad story here which fortunately has a much happier outcome.
The mound of rubble that remains after this fire. Sure takes a long time for all the mess to get cleaned away. Pic taken August 2012 – 6 months post fire!
We did feature a blogpost many months ago that Tom’s Sewing Machines in Surrey, BC had the terrible misfortune of a fire in the building where Tom & Kerri’s store is located. The fire started in a fast food outlet at the other end of the building and effectively his store was virtually the only part left standing. The rest literally burnt to the ground as seen in the pic above. However, the building was condemned and they were not able to salvage much after all that water & smoke damage. That was the very sad part.
A burnt out fridge lies crumpled on what remains of the parking lot.
The amazing part was that Tom, Kerri & their staff opened their doors virtually next door in the next building literally a short month after the fire! This is a tribute to this couple’s wonderful work ethic. Nothing seems to get Tom & Kerri down for long. They bounced right back & have been doing business from a tiny, temporary location since a month after the fire.
NOW THE GREAT NEWS IS: the new store is NOW open and I was very pleased to be part of the recent party to celebrate the new store location: #102-8338 Scott Road, Surrey – a mere stone’s throw from his old location that was destroyed by fire. Anyone who visited the old store will easily find the new store – one building north on the Surrey side of Scott Road.
Tom & Kerri were presented with a wonderful gift by staff & customers at the recent party: they have worked so hard to get the new store open and business back to the way it was before the fire, so the staff & customers wanted Tom & Kerri to have a weekend away to relax & celebrate their recent wedding anniversary. CONGRATULATIONS Tom & Kerri – well deserved…..now go and enjoy!!!
All set up and ready to demo!!
Tom’s Sewing Machines – a loyal and very competent dealership: Tom, Kerri & their staff will be happy to demo Janome & Elna sewing machines.
