“HAND IN HAND PIECING TOGETHER”
FRIENDSHIP STAR
We were approached via the Janome Distributor in Malaysia and Elna in Japan to possibly participate in a Quilt Block Exchange programme. The objective is to promote the advantages & importance of creative sewing skills to women nowadays in terms of expression of love; improvement of household economy and as the hobby of individuals. They would like to harnass the energy of women worldwide to carry out social works in order to establish justice, understanding, love and a peaceful society. Also to provide support in economic strengthening with coopertaion of women worldwide to contribute their love and cultural exchange through sewing skills.
Pretty lofty objectives I would say. I wish the organization that got this going the very best of success: The Association of Creative Sewing Art of Malaysia with co-organizers The Commerce and Art of Malaysia and Epal Sewing Training Centre.
I decided an appropriate block would be the Friendship Star in red & white for Canada. I then dec. stitched around the star and added rows of echo dec. stitching in white. Lastly, came the quilting: straight stitch quilted in white between the rows of echo quilting and free motion in red in the red star.
