I recently completed this needle painted flower for a class at the Saskatchewan Stitches Conference (Muenster, SK end of May/beginning of June each year). This wonderful stitching extravaganza is the creation of Wendy Toye of Haus of Stitches, Humboldt, SK. Next year is her 10th anniversary of the Conference so you should definitely make plans to attend. I would not miss it for anything!!
The flower was cut from a large bold, floral print (purchased from another of my Elna dealers: A Great Notion in Langley, BC). It was fused onto a black background and then I had an enormous amount of FUN “colouring in” or “painting” my flower with threads and sewing machine needle plus the wonderful Convertible Free Motion foot .
The ladies who attended this class sure had fun too….one lady told me it was the most freedom she had had at her sewing machine in years! Just what I like to hear…… if it is not relaxing and fun….why would we do it???!!!
All my sewing on this project was completed on the Elna 740 Excellence which was pure bliss to work on. However, if you have not yet visited your local Elna dealer to find out what all the buzz is about, you could use any Elna sewing machine where you can drop the feed dogs and FREE motion to your heart’s content. Do test drive an EL740 soon as you will be sure to receive a pleasant surprize about how smoothly and wonderfully it sews………Excellence is the name!
